Since we moved to our current location in 1964, the Billy Goat has been a favorite hang out of  great Chicago reports like Mike Royko, Dave Condon, Irv Kupcinet, and many more. Today, the Billy Goat is still a frequent hangout for writers and a living museum of Chicago journalism. “Can I have fries with that?”
“No fries, cheeps! No Pepsi. Coke! Cheezborger!” 

In 1964, the “Original” Billy Goat Tavern moved to its current location on 430 N. Michigan ave. When Billy Sianis put the menu together, mysteriously French Fries, a popular burger compliment, was left off. It was a simple omission that made us famous!

Why no fries, cheeps!? With only 100 square feet of kitchen space, who had room for a deep fryer. Where would the goat sleep? No Fryer, no Fries, Cheeps!
