It sure was a slap-shot in the face to learn that the Red Wings are moving to the Eastern Conference next season.
We’ve really enjoyed the rivalry around here. After all, Billy Goat Tavern is the ORIGINAL Blackhawks bar. We opened directly across the street from the Chicago Stadium in 1934, the same year that the Blackhawks won their first Stanley Cup (against none other than the Red Wings).
2013 was extra satisfying chapter in the rivalry – beating Detroit in Game 7 to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals after being down 3 games to 1. A fitting send off to the Red Wings. GO HAWKS!

We’ve been serving Blackhawks fans since the indian was just a papoose.
Many people think that our subterranean Michigan Ave. location is the original Billy Goat. Not so. Madison Avenue is where all the fun really began.
Founded in 1934, the original Billy Goat Tavern was located on Madison directly across the street from the old Chicago Stadium. it wasn’t until 1964 that Billy Goat moved to Michigan Ave. and the original location eventually became a parking lot. The United Center currently resides on the property once own by Billy Goat.
Here’s the Billy Goat Inn in 1934:

Attention Hawks Nation – We are hosting a very special event before tonight’s game 7! Join us for a GRILLED OCTOPUS Tailgate Party – tonight between 4:30 and 6:30.
We plan on packing the United Center with Hawks fans stuffed full of octopus. And, if one winds up twirling on the ice tonight, we’ll make sure the only way it leaves Chicago is grilled.
All Grilled Octopus sales go to The Butkus Foundation..www.butkusfoundation.org
Let’s go Hawks! We want more games to send Sam on Goal Patrol!

We recently had the pleasure of hosting Allie Loukas and crew at our Michigan Avenue location. They filmed a scene for Allie’s indie comedy “Like Father, Like Daughter”. Sam even made a cameo with the goat.
Now it’s time to meet the star of the show – Billy Jr.!!!

No lettuce for our cheezborgers…only the goat!
